Started in 2006 as an initiative of the Austrian Cultural Forum, Balkan Fever London continues, in a month-long festival, to present a wide range of music from the Balkans, or drawing on the region’s musical traditions. As in previous years with the support of ACF, the programme includes Austrian-based artists who have taken part in Balkan Fever Vienna (www.balkanfever.at), this year the singer Maja Osojnik and DJ Dunkelbunt.

 Maja Osojnik Band (Slovenia/Austria) One time member of the Sandy Lopicic Orchestra, Maja Osojnik sings traditional Slovenian songs in jazz interpretation with her 6 piece band. She has performed at Balkan Fever Vienna festival in 2005, and has won awards including in 2008 Unicredit Bank Jeunesse and BA-CA Artist of the Year. She follows other vocalists of the Sandy Lopicic Orchestra Irina Karamarkovic and Natasa Mirkovic in performing at Balkan Fever London at Pizza on the Park. DJ Dunkelbunt (Austria) Viennese DJ Dunkelbunt (Ulf Lindemann) is one of several DJs who are bringing Balkan music into the mainstream in Vienna. In 2007 he showcased his set at Womex. At this club night in collaboration with Balkan Beats London he’ll play the main DJ set of the festival.
