Annelies Oberdanner
Sculpture Drawings Photos
Annelies Oberdanner makes sculpture, objects, drawings and photographs. At the centre of her various working processes lies the common concern for the play between object and image; the object as image, and the image as object. There is a clear desire to show the physicality of experience in her work. The sculptures and drawings share an evident concern for material, weight, pattern, and light.
“I try to create an object that shows or accommodates lived experience. I want that for myself and for the person looking at my work.”
Oberdanner lives & works in Vienna, she studied in Vienna and at the Jan Van Eyck Academie, Maastricht, NL and is a former student of Jon Thompson. Her work has been shown and collected widely.

Joe Zawinul - A Tribute with the BBC Big Band
London Jazz Festival
The closing night of the London Jazz Festival at the Barbican was planned as a collaboration between Joe Zawinul and the BBC Big Band, playing the music from his acclaimed recording Brown Street. His untimely death in September was a huge blow to the jazz community worldwide. The concert with the Big Band will proceed with a decidedly British tribute to this giant of contemporary jazz with Django Bates along with one of the world’s great bassists, Victor Bailey, Brazillian percussionist Bosco d’Oliveira and drummer Martin France.
